Our Story
Legacy Events for Education is a 501c3 non-profit organization founded to reward the outstanding efforts of students and teachers at local public high schools, and provide financial support in areas not otherwise funded by Orange County Public Schools. Our mission is to provide scholarships and grants in the areas of arts, academics and athletics to reward exemplary efforts of students and teachers both on campus and in the community. We believe it is important to encourage involvement and making a difference in our local communities.
Since our inception, Legacy has delivered over $80,000 in scholarships and grants to local graduates and their schools. We fund these efforts though the production of community fundraising events like the Central Florida Chili Cookoff, generous sponsorships from local businesses and individual donations from the local community.
Our programs include the Leave a Legacy and Teacher Nominated scholarships, our club and teacher grants and our Legacy Leaders Academy.
Our scholarship programs recognize students for exceptional community volunteerism both on and off campus, awarded to students who have performed hundreds of volunteer hours during high school. Our grant programs are awarded through annual applications. Some examples include the sunshade on the campus at Windermere High School, sending students in need to regional conferences and funding social emotional support programs on campus. Finally, our newest program launched in 2022, is our Legacy Leaders Academy. This program includes classes like College Prep 101 and Financial Literacy 101 and are presented in partnership with local coaches, tutors and financial institutions and are presented to both parents and students.
None of these programs would be possible without the hard work of our volunteers and our generous donors. Legacy firmly believes that it’s not what you take from the world, its what you leave behind!
